This have also given birth to many new interesting retail concepts in Jakarta. Here are some cool places that have popped up in Jakarta last year that is definitely worth a visit (if you haven’t been):
1. PIK 2
The PIK2 area have definitely gained popularity during this pandemic. PIK2 boasts an abundance of green outdoor spaces (by Jakarta’s standards) that is extremely popular among cyclists and joggers, a white sandy beach (Pantai Pasir Putih), and the insta-popular Jakarta-Banten bridge and Pantjoran PIK. Modeled after a classic Chinatown, Pantjoran PIK offers a slice of Chinatown in North Jakarta. To create a more authentic experience, the materials used to build this massive outdoor food court was even imported from China! With the future development of PIK2, we are definitely excited about PIK2’s future contribution to Jakarta’s public open spaces. Pantjoran PIK is open every day, from Monday to Sunday from 07.00 to 23.00 WIB.
2. Senayan Park Mall (Spark)
Previously known as Taman Ria Senayan, Spark is a new lifestyle mall that boasts a large outdoor space with a manmade lagoon and fountains! It is probably one of the few malls in Jakarta that integrates green spaces in its concept. Spark’s tenants consist of 50% and is also the first mall with a drive in cinema in Jakarta! Their outdoor spaces that are also bike-accessible are also decorated with Instagrammable spots
3. Ashta District 8
Ashta District 8 is another new mall that surrounds its concept around green spaces. Ashta have also brought in internationally acclaimed F&B establishments such as Café Kitsune and Arabica Coffee to add vibrancy to the South Jakarta dining scene. Besides that, Ashta also boasts a beautiful rooftop garden and a bright and airy vibes thanks to its use of high ceiling and natural lighting. Ashta is also home to other other interesting retail and lifestyle concepts such as IUIGA and Level. However, the most special thing about Ashta is most definitely its rooftop garden boasting impressive views of SCBD!
4. Broadway @ Flavor Bliss Alam Sutera
This place is technically not in Jakarta, but well, close enough! Modeled after the Broadway Theatre district in New York City, Broadway offers a slice of New York in Alam Sutera Tangerang Selatan and it is definitely one of the most iconic hangout places in the Jabodetabek area. Broadway even has a “Korean Alley” which was inspired by the quaint alleyways of Seoul.
5. Kumulo Creative Compound
Even though netizens and influencers are largely divide about, there are still a lot of things worth celebrating about Kumulo! First of all, we love the fact that Kumulo is a space dedicated only for local merchants. Kumulo was also build by a home-grown prefab construction company that focuses on sustainable development, Accossa Lab! Overall, no matter what netizens feel about this space, it is always a great thing to have another outdoor public spaces in town!
